The Campaign to turn Columbus Day into "Indigenous Peoples Day"

The Baltimore City Council will vote on Monday, December 5, 2016 to replace the Columbus Day holiday with "Indigenous Peoples Day and Italian Americans Day." The latter phrase was added when Baltimore's Italian Americans objected to the original (and, frankly, unoriginal) "Indigenous Peoples Day."


The National Christopher Columbus Association, in a letter from NCCA President J. P. McCusker to Councilman Brandon Scott, objected strongly to the proposal. So did a who's who of the city's Italian American leaders. Here are links to their letters of objection:
